Mibo Studio ~ Christmas Creatures

Mibo Studio Christmas Creatures
Eeehheheeeee!! I know Christmas is actually supposed to be over down under, but since Greg and I are only half way through our MASSIVE CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA (and it’s still well and truly Christmas in the States xD) I’m feeling totally within my bounds to pimp these festive paper creatures.

PLUS THEY ARE CUUUUUTE! And Polar Bears are an all the time food†. *nods*

More and more I’ve been seriously getting into papercraft, or the idea of it and how to incorporate it into designs for work. So when I stumbled onto the mibo studio store I think I let out a squee for a full minute complete. LOOK HOW ADORABLES! The little one with his eyes closed!? AUUUUUUGH! Though I’m not sure if the deer looking like he’s trapped in the headlights of an oncoming vehicle is REALLY that festive… Although, SOME famous chefs do advocate the eating of roadkill, and venison is MIGHTY delicious…

*whistles*

PS: CHRISTMAS JOKE TIME!

Two elks were sitting in a tree. A submarine landed in the tree next to them. And one elk said “Maybe he lives there.”

PPS: I know its mighty gross and and just that little macabre, but I kinda found these shots of polar bears roaming about through massive whale carcasses, AWESOME!

Hope you’re all still hungry! ;) xD

I needed to download some pictures that my Mom took on her digital camera today. She has a Canon Power Shot SD 780.

Did some quick googling to learn that Debian has a command-line program that can be used, and apparently supports a very large range of digital cameras: gphoto2
***
Connected my mom's camera via usb cable to my workstation.
Next did:
sudo aptitude install gphoto2

Then created a directory on my filesystem
robert@pip:~/cameraPictures/mom mkdir _2009-12-25

Then cd'd to the directory. In the directory, ran this command:
gphoto2 -P

This command downloads _all_ the photos from the camera to the directory where you executed the command.
***
Just wanted to share this quick way to get photos, in case you were like me :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Assassin's Creed 2 Black Edition - Blah.

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 10:33 AM
We picked up the black edition of Assassin's Creed 2 a couple months ago, and recently got into it.

The game is good, but I'm incredibly disappointed by the quality of the pack - for $150 AUD, you'd expect more.

- It has a figurine which is quite heavily leaning to one side.
- The unlockable maps can only be unlocked for ONE gamer profile on the xbox - so I can't access them, even on the same xbox. Plus they're only maybe 10 minutes long - almost nothing.
- The 'soundtrack' included is on a DVD and can only be played from a DVD player, as a movie - not in any other music player.
- The booklet with info is tiny and full of spelling errors and random spaces between words.
- The casing is a thin, flimsy cardboard box.

The WoW collector's editions were heavy, sturdy things with enormous beautiful art books inside, DVDs on the making of, a CD soundtrack, a mouse mat and the game as DVD and CD - and all for a lot less money!!

We'll never buy another Ubisoft game at full retail price again, and certainly never any limited edition sold exclusive to EB Games. :|

In response to Steffi's adventure...

  • Dec. 23rd, 2009 at 11:45 AM

I died on Moon Colony Bondchick Nett

I was killed in a cavernous bunker beneath the colony by Niloublue the psychic agent, whilst carrying...

an ALLANON101-30 plasma rifle, a Didichanian raygun, a Jurianneian artefact, a Fanthisian artefact, a Heartnuu screwdriver, a topgearlithium crystal, an DRAGANCAOR-80 phaser, a TV forcefield generator and 20 galacticredits.

Score: 162

Explore Moon Colony Bondchick Nett and try to beat this score,
or enter your username to generate and explore your own space adventure...

I couldn't resist playing after the name of my mission was Moon Colony Bondchick Nett, considering Greg's elljay is [info]moonlapse and all. *hearts*

BUT I DIED HORRIBLY! Cannot pick ma fights, *hangs head* Bad Space Cowboy. No Cookie.

...Or dehydrated strawberry powder for that matter. WOE!

So I redid the game and kind of... PWNED it... ^_^;;; )

Abenohiya aka Cadenza’s Super Dollfies

Fairyland Little Fee Ante, from abenohiya aka Cadenza's flickr

Oops, I angelic-ed again! The sweetest of little Christmas Cherubs

AUGH! ♥ I hadn’t really been looking at people’s doll sites or flickr photostreams for over a year now because it was SUCH a temptation/exquisite torture which I just could not afford (health or monetarily wise). But today I got a notification of abenohiya/hiyaya friending me on flickr and upon clicking to see if they’d be someone I would friend back I was filled with want for my own doll crew and a massive photoshoot like I haven’t had in a dog’s age.

A whole mess of her shots are just divine, and totally fit in with my theme this week of christmas-y link-spam. *delight*

Jacabunnies and Jacabobs: Family Portrait

Jacabunnies and Jacabobs: Family Portrait

AHAHHAAA How freaken festively ADORABLE are these?!!? EEEEEEE!! Found a week or so ago, I’ve been totally squeeing over Kit Lane’s Little Oddjects etsy store pretty much daily from then.

How anyone could resist her non-traditional felted cuties I have no idea, especially compounded by her terminology when titling and describing them. The very idea of bringing them home and having them have little adventures about your house overflows me with nothing short of a whimsical Sylvanian Families meets David the Gnome delight.

AHAHAHAAA!!! I’m all giddy from the thought right now, and I’m just looking at the pictures!
